I got very lucky in late January 2003, wandering around with my new digital camera, when I encountered this guy on GWU's quad. He was standing there over his pigeon feast, and despite my crawling ever closer, ripped apart his catch without a care. What is he? My best guess, based on the notched tail, an overwintering Sharp-shinned hawk, Accipiter striatus.
